£14,000 raised for CHSW: Saltford Captain Makes Huge Impact for Local Families

11 March 2026 CHSW

Dave Boulton from Saltford has gone above and beyond in supporting local charities, raising an incredible £14,010 for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) during his tenure as Saltford Golf Club Captain for 2025.

The funds were raised through a wide variety of events, and at the end of 2025, CHSW’s care team were thrilled to welcome Dave and his wife June for a cheque presentation on their second visit to the hospice. The £14,000 raised could help pay for a week of end-of-life care for a family at one of the hospices, providing vital support during an incredibly difficult time.

Dave said:

I am extremely proud and pleased to have raised this incredible amount for CHSW.

"I wish to thank all the members, sponsors and individuals that generously supported this cause. What an amazing achievement, thank you for your support."

In addition to fundraising, Dave has actively supported CHSW’s Young Ambassador Programme at Wellsway Secondary School.

He introduced the local Area Fundraiser, Heidi Roberts, to the school, where year 12 students participate in interviews, receive feedback, and take part in training sessions on presentation skills and event organisation.

Heidi Roberts, Area Fundraiser for CHSW added: "It was so great to have David interviewing with me as he has a wealth of experience from his career as a project manager and as he has connections with the school. Dave thoroughly enjoyed listening to the students sharing their team working skills from all their extracurricular activities from music, to basketball and playing football for the local Fry’s football club."

The Young Ambassadors will present their projects to a Dragons Den-style panel of local businesses in March, with Dave continuing to offer his support. Heidi added: "CHSW cannot thank Dave enough for his support in so many different ways. He is really making a difference and helping us create precious memories for our families."

Dave also supports Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) charity, which is very close to his heart, demonstrating his commitment to supporting local charities in multiple ways.
