Brother and sister's Firewalk in memory of brother

A brother and sister walked barefoot over coals reaching temperatures of 1200F to raise money for the children’s hospice which cared for their disabled sibling.

Charley Davis and brother Liam took on the roasting hot pathway at the Children’s Hospice South West’s (CHSW) Firewalk at Charlton Farm, Wraxall in memory of their foster brother Jack on Thursday 22 February

Jack was welcomed into the Davis family by mum and dad Sandie and Jim, aged just 2 years-old in 2007.

Needleworkers create handmade quilts for hospice

A group of volunteer needleworkers have been using their talents to create stunning homemade quilts for a children’s hospice.

Project Linus, a group of needlewomen based across the UK, handed over a number of quilts to Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

The colourful quilts will be used at CHSW's Charlton Farm children's hospice.

Children and young people using the hospice are also able to take the quilts home with them.

Members of the Bath, Wells and surrounding areas Linus Group which handcrafted the items, popped into the hospice to present the quilts to staff.

Legendary Grand Tour still going strong after 25 years

For over 25 years North Devon’s annual Legendary Grand Tour has become a firm fixture for August Bank Holiday and attracts Mini owners from all over the UK. Organised by Mini enthusiast Terry Baker and his wife Linda from Minehead, the latest Mini run raised an amazing £22,204 which brings the total amount raised for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) since it began to a staggering £626,218.36!

Her Majesty The Queen visits Charlton Farm

A small number of children, families, staff and supporters were delighted when Her Majesty The Queen paid a visit to Charlton Farm children’s hospice in North Somerset on Thursday 14 December.

Her Majesty, Royal Patron of Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW), was taken on a tour of the children’s hospice by Co-Founder and CEO Eddie Farwell, Patricia Morris, Chair of Trustees along with Charlton Farm’s Head of Care Karen Greaves and Medical Director, Emma Heckford.

Going above and beyond on volunteer days

This year Connells, Reassured, FL Protection and Alps protection and sales teams at Aviva came together for the day to join in on the ‘Aviva Charity 10K walk’.

A total of 27 employees were involved in this years charity volunteer day, which has raised a total of £1,791.00 for Children Hospice South West (CHSW).

Team me mbers split into two teams starting at Clifton Observatory and ending at St Mary Redcliffe church, taking two different 10k routes around Bristol and capturing some of Bristol beloved landmarks on the way and lots of donations from the people of Bristol.

Evening of entertainment for local children’s hospice

Saint Andrew Lodge in Tywardreath raised £950 for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

The extravaganza was held at Brian and Brenda Ball’s property in July and more than 150 guests were treated to entertainment from Cornish comedian Johnny Cowling as well as a hog roast and delicious desserts.

Money raised from the night will go to CHSW’s Little Harbour hospice in Porthpean, St Austell as well as other charities including Go Beyond in Tywardreath.

Magical memories made at the Tunnel of Lights

Families currently receiving care and support from 2 Cornish charities enjoyed the opportunity to make some special memories at the Tunnel of Lights Christmas attraction at Charlestown’s Shipwreck Treasure Museum.

The museum provided complimentary and exclusive access to the festive event before it opened to the public for families with a child or children with a life-limiting condition and being cared for by Children’s Hospice South West.

'A Night of Music' in aid of Little Harbour

Local artists are coming together for a concert in aid of Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

The event, ‘A Night of Music’ is being held at the Princess Pavilion in Falmouth on Sunday 3 December at 7.30pm.

The evening will feature performances from Pendennis Brass and Hit & Miss, a Cornish Singing Quartet, compered by Fred Thomas, as his alter ego, 'Betty'.

Money raised from the night will go to CHSW’s Little Harbour Hospice in Porthpean, St Austell.

Edwards Vacuum raise over an outstanding £84,000 for local children’s hospice

Edwards Vacuum, global leader of vacuum and abatement, based in Clevedon has raised an outstanding £84,782 for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

As the annual sponsor of the charity’s flagship event, Ride for Precious Lives, 20 employees completed the 3 day sponsored cycling event. The cycle covered 3 counties in 3 days stopping off at all 3 hospices over 205 miles. The team from Edwards joined 100 other riders at Little Harbour in St Austell, called at Little Bridge House in Barnstaple and sailed across the finish line at Charlton Farm children’s hospice near Bristol.

Fred Thomas wins Regional Pride of Britain Award

Fred Thomas, aka Betty Stogs, has won a place in the finals of the Pride of Britain Awards.

He was named Regional Pride of Britain Fundraiser 2023 on Friday 15 September.

He will now go onto the finals of the awards, representing the West Country at the national ceremony in October.

Fred, who fundraises across Cornwall, has raised almost £150,000 for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) spanning over 14 years, and £400,000 collectively for CHSW and the RNLI.
