Cricket club's 150th anniversary challenge to raise money for hospice

A team of cyclists got on their bikes to cycle from Lord’s Cricket Ground to their home pitch to celebrate 150 years of their club.

A team from Clevedon Cricket Club pedalled the 150 miles from the world-famous Lord’s Cricket Ground in St John’s Wood, London, to their home at Dial Hill, Clevedon over 3 days to raise money for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

The team, made up of club members and supporters, collected a cricket ball from Lord’s to take with them on the trip, presenting it to Clevedon Cricket Club President Ben Hazeldine on their return as part of the annual President’s Day

Motorcyclists gear up for second charity bike show

The roar of engines will be filling Bristol this summer for an annual charity bike show

Members of the Christian Motorcyclists Association (CMA) are revving up ready for their second Bike Show at St Peter’s Church, Lawrence Weston, on 26 August in aid of Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

The family-friendly show will see bikers from across Bristol showcase their machines and there will be motorbike related stalls, face painting, a bouncy castle, a café selling cakes and cream teas and a barbecue. There will also be music throughout the day, including a DJ.

Businessman takes on 'biggest ever' cycle challenge for CHSW

A local businessman is to take on the challenge of cycling from one end of the UK to the other to raise money for a children’s hospice.

Derek Campion, Managing Director of Avonmouth-based company Filtration Ltd, is to bike the 980 miles from Lands End in Cornwall to John O Groats in Scotland to raise money for Children’s Hospice South West.

The challenge is part of the Babble Across Britain event which will see around 800 cyclists use pedal power to raise money for a variety of different charities. Derek, who will be camping out overnight along the route, will be covering an average of 110

Fresh new look for CHSW's Penzance Charity Shop

Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) has re-opened it’s Penzance charity shop with a fresh new look.

The shop on Causewayhead has been given a complete makeover, and is completely open plan and spacious.

Area Retail Manager, Jerome Browne, said the improved layout would offer customers an enhanced shopping experience, as well as a better working environment for staff and volunteers.

Teams sought to tee up for charity golf day

Teams are being sought to dust off their irons and tee up for a charity golf day in Somerset.

The Rotary Club of Brue Valley is holding its annual golf day at Wheathill Golf Club, Lydford-on- Fosse, near Castle Cary, on Thursday 12 September. The event, which will see up to 24 teams make their way around the 18 hole course, will raise money for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

Swimming gran takes plunge for hospice

A grandmother of 2 put on her swimming hat to take the plunge and raise money for Children’s Hospice South West.

Lin Cryer, 73, from Hanham, Bristol, swam 7 miles in 7 hours over 7 days at Longwell Leisure Centre to raise money for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW). She took up the challenge as part of the charity’s Swim 10K in May fundraiser.

Lin, who spends her spare time knitting, reading and gardening, smashed her initial fundraising target of £50 – raising £520!

Bereaved siblings enjoy gaming session and pizza

Bereaved siblings of children and young people cared for by Charlton Farm hospice enjoy a special gaming session.

Bath-based media group Network N Holdings, which specialises in the gaming industry, hosted the event which was attended by 5 young people. The 5 young gamers are siblings of children who have been cared for by Children’s Hospice South West at its Charlton Farm Hospice in Wraxall. As well as playing Nintendo Switch and PS5 games during the evening, the siblings also enjoyed many pizzas.

Jazz superstar Jamie Cullum 'blown away' by CHSW's music therapy work

Award winning musician Jamie Cullum shared a special message with guests at an event to celebrate the importance of music to children, young people and families with life-limiting conditions who are supported by Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

Songwriter and pianist Jamie recorded the message which was shared at an Evening of Jazz held in the stunning gardens of Iford Manor in Bradford-on-Avon. Local company saddles up for Ride for Precious Lives

A team of colleagues from one of North Somerset’s largest employers is preparing to saddle up for a charity ride between Bristol and Cornwall – for the eleventh consecutive year.

Twelve members of staff at Edwards in Clevedon are taking part in the Children’s Hospice South West’s Ride for Precious Lives from 12-14 July.

The team from Edwards will join more than 90 cyclists as they bike 200 miles from Charlton Farm children’s hospice in Wraxall to Little Harbour children’s hospice in St Austell, calling in at Little Bridge House in Barnstaple on route.
