Young Fundraiser Drives Success of Charity Golf Day for Children's Hospice South West
More than 80 golfers came together at Lansdown Golf Club to support Children's Hospice South West (CHSW), raising an impressive £1,829.60 through a charity golf day organised by young fundraiser Issy and her grandad, Garry.
The event, held on Sunday 17 May, brought together golfers, supporters, friends and family for a day of sport and fundraising in aid of CHSW's Charlton Farm children's hospice near Bristol.
Issy, from the Kingswood area was inspired to support the charity after hearing about CHSW from family friend and volunteer Claire at her local sports club. Wanting to learn more, Issy and her mum Kelly visited Charlton Farm, an experience that left a lasting impression on them both.
The family has organised charity golf days for several years, traditionally supporting another cause close to their hearts. However, after seeing first-hand the care and support provided at Charlton Farm, Issy decided that this year's event would raise funds for CHSW.
Golfers competed throughout the day for a range of prizes linked to their performance on the course. The event also featured a raffle, silent auction and sales of handmade dolls created by a family member, helping to boost the fundraising total.
At the end of the day, Issy addressed participants and thanked everyone for their support.
Liana Sommers, Area Fundraiser for CHSW added: "We are incredibly grateful to Issy, Garry, Kelly and everyone involved in organising this fantastic golf day. The support shown by everyone who took part will help us continue providing vital care and support to babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, as well as their families. Raising more than £1,800 is a wonderful achievement and we can't thank everyone enough."
The £1,829.60 raised will help Children's Hospice South West continue providing hospice care, respite stays, emergency support and end-of-life care for families across the South West.
