Teams grace the greens at Girling Jones golf day

The 2022 Girling Jones Golf Day at Exeter Golf and Country Club

Construction industry professionals from across the South West have been gracing the greens to raise more than £9,000 for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

Thirty teams battled it out at the fourth annual Girling Jones Golf Day at the Exeter Golf and Country Club on September 22.

The Exeter-based construction recruitment consultancy is a huge supporter of CHSW and has raised thousands of pounds for the charity during the last 10 years.

Director Simon Girling said: “We had a truly excellent turnout for this year’s golf day; thanks to all our guests who helped make it such a cracking event and for being so generous with their donations. The 2022 Girling Jones Golf Day at Exeter Golf and Country Club

“Thanks also to everyone who donated prizes and their time on the day, as well as our sponsors, including Kensa Utilities, Quba Solutions, Pinnacle Photo Agency, Nevada Construction, Ollie Stephens, Chris Bentley, Exeter Golf and Country Club, Exeter Brewery, Fossil Coast Drinks Co, and of course all our hole sponsors.”

As well as organising the annual golf day, Girling Jones staff have taken part in CHSW’s Ride for Precious Lives cycle challenge, ran marathons and half-marathons, and organised office bake-offs. They raised £2,500 doing a Lands’ End to John O’Groats static cycle challenge outside their offices on the quayside in Exeter in 2017 and have even visited CHSW’s Little Bridge House children’s hospice in North Devon to lend a hand giving the gardens a tidy.

CHSW area fundraiser Henrietta Olsson said: “We can’t thank the team at Girling Jones enough for such fantastic and faithful support.

“Simon and his staff are such incredible ambassadors of our charity and their golf day is always one of the highlights in the fundraising calendar.

It is always very special to see so many people having fun and raising money to support local families facing the most unimaginable challenges.

“The team are already busy planning next year’s event so please drop them a line if you’d like to be involved.”
