On August 4 2019, Robert Pattison from Dulcote in Wells was one of 10 people who took part in the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 on behalf of local charity Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

The event is a 100-mile cycling event for amateur cyclists, which begins at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, with cyclists riding through London and out to the Surrey Hills of Leith Hill and Box Hill before coming back into London and finishing on The Mall.

This was Robert’s fifth time taking part in the event and he completed it in his best time to date - 6 hours 1 minute. He said, “It was my pleasure to represent CHSW at this year’s RideLondon, I have tried to support smaller or local charities before. Hopefully the money raised will help in some small way.”

Robert raised an incredible £1,373.45 in sponsorship, which will go directly towards helping CHSW support families from Wells and the surrounding area at its hospice located in North Somerset called Charlton Farm.

Emma Parker, Community Fundraiser at CHSW said “We are so grateful to Robert for supporting our Charlton Farm hospice with his fundraising. The hospice cares for many families in the area whose children are not expected to live into adulthood and support from people like Robert in the community allows us to continue to provide the best possible care to local children and families.”Robert-with-Emma-from-CHSW

CHSW has now sold its charity places for RideLondon 2020, however, if you have been lucky enough to win a ballot place for this iconic cycling event you can still be a part of Team CHSW by raising sponsorship for your local Children’s hospice. Alternatively, CHSW has its own annual cycling event, Ride for Precious Lives
