Pupils at Trinity Church of England School in Acton Turville spent Christmas fundraising for their local children’s hospice, Charlton Farm in North Somerset.

Girls from Year 4 at the South Gloucestershire primary school wanted to work on a project as a team to bring them closer together and at the same time make a difference to the lives of children less fortunate than themselves.

Mum, Sarah Godwin said “Instead of taking part in Secret Santa, the girls thought they could give to a charity instead. It made sense to choose Children’s Hospice South West as it’s a local charity that helps children. We rallied the school, family and friends and launched Project Hospice Help. It was good for the girls to work on something together and to channel their energies into doing something positive. It showed them that if they work as a team, they can achieve great things.”

In January the 8 and 9-year olds visited CHSW’s Charlton Farm to see how the money they raised would make a difference to children and their families. Following their tour of Charlton Farm, the girls presented a cheque to the hospice for £1,590.

Frances Kenneally, Community Fundraiser at CHSW, said: “The care offered at each of our hospices is not simply about medical and nursing care for sick children, but about enriching the lives of children and their families. They are able to spend precious time together making special memories; something that wouldn’t be possible without donations like these from the community. We’d like to thank the pupils, staff and parents of Trinity School for helping raise these vital funds for Charlton Farm.”
