Popular annual event Snowdrop Sunday a huge success!

25 February 2026 CHSW

Visitors enjoyed an early taste of spring on Sunday 15 February at the annual Snowdrop Sunday at Andrews Corner, near Belstone, where hundreds of snowdrops and early spring blooms filled the woodland garden with colour.

Set high on the northern slopes of Dartmoor, the garden created by the Hill family over the past 50 years offered stunning views across the Skaigh Valley, along with the chance to see around 100 different snowdrop cultivars, from the well-loved classics to the more unusual varieties.

Organised each year by Robin and Edwina Hill, members of the Children’s Hospice South West Belstone and Area Friends’ Group, the event welcomed the local community for plant sales, CHSW goods and plenty of homemade treats including hot soup, cheese scones, bacon baps and cakes.
Since holding their first snowdrop event in 2008, the Hills and their supporters have raised more than £16,167 for CHSW.

Henrietta Olsson, Area Fundraiser for CHSW, was delighted to attend. She said:

My sincere thanks to the CHSW Belstone and Area Friends’ Group for hosting a truly beautiful event. The snowdrops and early spring flowers were so lovely to see, and it was heart warming to see the community come out in support. Every penny raised makes a real difference to the families we care for across the South West
