‘Pitch while you putt’ networking event at Little Harbour

15 July 2025 CHSW

Little Harbour children’s hospice hosted a networking event with a difference for members of their Business Club.

Golf at Biz Club event

On Monday 7 July, 35 Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) Business Club members and guests came to the hospice in St Austell for an afternoon of pitch and putt alongside networking.

Before they were allowed out on the green Sam Dickenson from St Austell bravely shared her story about the support CHSW offers to local families like hers when they need it the most. Sam’s youngest son Seth died at the age of 7 following a medulloblastoma, a brain tumour the size of a golf ball. Little Harbour supported Sam, Seth and the rest of the family through their journey and are still a part of their lives now.

It was then into the hospice gardens for some competitive pitch and putt between the businesses. The golf equipment was generously provided by Cornwall Hire free of charge for the day.

CHSW’s Business Club allows businesses to build connections, raise awareness of their business and, crucially, help make a difference to babies, children and young people living with life-limiting conditions and their families.

Little Harbour supports more than 130 families from across Cornwall and Plymouth through hospice days, hospice stays as well as home visits and virtual support. Families have access to expert medical care for their child, as well as dedicated support for siblings and emotional and practical support for the whole family.

Amanda Masters, Area Fundraiser for CHSW, said:

It was really refreshing to see our Business Club members come together and learn about each other’s company’s in a fun, interactive environment.

“We’re so grateful for the support from each and every one of them, and we’re glad they got to visit Little Harbour and see the for themselves why their support is so vital.”
