Little Harbour offering talks on hospice’s sensory experiences

10 July 2025 CHSW

Little Harbour children’s hospice in St Austell is offering community talks about the sensory experiences provided at the hospice.

These sessions are being offered to groups, school and business to raise awareness about the work Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) does for local families whose child has a life-limiting condition.

For the babies, children and young people CHSW care for, sensory experiences are so important to help them interact with the people and environment around them.

Amanda Masters, Area Fundraiser for CHSW said: “Our Care Teams are so creative in the ways that they support the emotional needs of the children and their siblings. One resource used frequently are Tacpacs; these bring together touch and music to stimulate a sensory experience for the child. Another firm favourite are emotional first aid boxes which are kits to help with mental and emotional wellbeing."

In our upcoming community talks we are excited to be able to share more about these tools, as well as the other ways in which our Care Teams support babies, children and young people.

Little Harbour supports more than 130 families from across Cornwall and Plymouth through hospice days, hospice stays as well as home visits and virtual support. Families have access to expert medical care for their child, as well as dedicated support for siblings and emotional and practical support for the whole family.

If you are part of a group, school or business and would like to hear more about CHSW’s work please get in touch to book your talk today. Sample Tacpacs and emotional first aid boxes can be brought along for demonstration and the local Area Fundraisers are happy to tailor the talk to suit your group.
