The Goonvean Group pledge to raise £100,000 for CHSW
Private family investment group, The Goonvean Group has recently announced that its going to extend its 2 year partnership supporting Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) for an additional 3 years. The group aims to raise £100,000 over the 5 year partnership period and have recently presented the charity with a cheque for £43,542 raised to date.
The announcement was made by Goonvean Group MD Matthew Gazzard at their recent Goonvean Summer Games fundraiser at Cullompton Cricket Club; an annual event held for staff from all of the Group’s businesses.
The first two years of the partnership have been incredibly busy with staff from all of the Goonvean Group’s businesses getting involved with a variety of fundraising activities from cake sales to 3-day hikes and everything in between. With charity champions appointed in each business and extensive plans to get involved with CHSW’s fundraising events, as well as planning their own, money has been coming in thick and fast from the start.
Katie Ovenden, Head of Sustainability at The Goonvean Group said; “CHSW are a perfect fit for our businesses. We have multiple businesses across the south west and beyond. The locations of the hospices geographically match that, and it’s something that we can do to bring our companies together. It’s been a great way of getting different people from different businesses together and talking.”
Businesses in The Goonvean Group include; RH Fibreboard Containers, Goonvean Aggregates, Goonvean Fibres, Dura-ID Solutions, Precision Casting Ltd., North Devon Electronics, Equinoxx and Goonvean Core Engineering.
Group Managing Director Matthew Gazzard said;
The partnership has surpassed all of our expectations. Staff members from across our businesses have all worked together, it’s brought a real group ethos. Getting behind so many amazing events but more than that, being able to visit the hospices and see the incredible support they offer to families has been really special.
There’s been so many positive tangible benefits of this partnership which is why we are extending for another 3 years.
CHSW relies almost entirely on voluntary donations so guaranteed long term support from such a large local business is fantastic news.
Hayley Wallbank, Regional Partnership Fundraiser at CHSW said; “It is a pleasure and a privilege to continue our partnership with our friends at the Goonvean Group. The last 2 years working together have forged some very strong bonds not only with the shared cause but also across groups of Goonvean Group employees too. We are excited to build even stronger bonds over the next 3 years to help even more local families who rely on our hospices all year round."
