Enjoy entry to Mitchell Fruit Garden in support of CHSW
A Cornish garden, well known locally as a favourite location for ‘pick-your-own’, is opening on Sunday 17 August in aid of Children’s Hospice West (CHSW).
Mitchell Fruit Garden in Newquay, just off the A30, will be open for visitors to enjoy from 11am-3pm for just £5 entry. All proceeds will go to CHSW’s Little Harbour children’s hospice in nearby St Austell.
The garden, nestled in the heart of Cornwall, is run by Kim Parish, an award-winning garden designer who hopes to establish Mitchel Fruit Garden as a cultural hub following the creation of a sub-tropical garden and sunflower field.
Visitors are also welcome to enjoy a pick-your-own experience, always a hit with children, where they can hand pick their favourite fruits and take them home to enjoy.
During the day there will be talks from Kim Parish, on how to create a sub-tropical garden and from Kevin Smith of the Cornish Rose Company. The talks will take place at 12pm and 1.30pm and will be undercover so will be taking place no matter the weather.
Alice Merrett, Area Fundraiser for CHSW, said: “This is sure to be a lovely day at Mitchell Fruit Garden, and we’re so grateful to Kim for holding this Open Garden for us.”
Entry is £5 for adults and children get in for free, 100% of the proceeds will go straight to CHSW and there will also be an opportunity to purchase refreshments and plants with 10% being very kindly donated to CHSW.
Alice continues;
Every pound goes towards keeping Little Harbour running every day of the year, so every donation makes all the difference, and what better way to fundraise than enjoying a beautiful garden this summer?
Little Harbour is situated on the south coast, a stone’s throw from Porthpean beach and is a relaxing place for the families who visit and are in desperate need of care and support from the hospice. The grounds boast beautiful gardens for the children, young people and their families to enjoy all year round.
