Dad swims, runs and cycles for CHSW
A dad of 3 swam, ran and cycled across Bristol to raise money for Children’s Hospice South West.
Chris Hill, 43, of Stoke Gifford, took part in the triathlon at Westcountry Water Park in Bristol, swimming 500 metres in the lake before cycling 10 kilometres and running 5 kilometres.
Chris, an associate director at HSBC, spent the last few months training to prepare for the sporting challenge.
Chris said: “I used to play a lot of rugby when I was younger and I fancied a new challenge.
“I prepared by getting into the gym and going out cycling and swimming.”
Chris was inspired to raise money for Children’s Hospice South West after one of his sons spent time on the high intensity unit at Bristol Children’s Hospital as a baby.
His son, who is now fully recovered, had a condition which meant the artery between his heart and kidneys was narrowed.
“We were in hospital for three to four weeks when he was a baby,” said Chris “and then in and out a lot after that.
“Fortunately my son has made a full recovery, but there were other children that didn’t.
“As a dad myself, and hearing about the incredible work of Children’s Hospice South West, I wanted to raise money for a charity that I felt I had a connection to due to the experiences within my own family.”
Chris had set himself a target to raise £250. Through his work, employer HSBC will match every £1 he raises.
Chris has now raised £705.
