The team at Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) is celebrating winning the Charity award at last week’s glitzy Bristol Life Awards ceremony.

CHSW was in a hotly contested category, nominated alongside 12 other charities, all doing vital work in the city;  Alive Activities, Billy Chip Community Interest Company, Bristol Autism Support, Bristol City Robins Foundation, Caring in Bristol, Creative Youth Network, FareShare South West, Great Western Air Ambulance Charity, The Sky Project, South Bristol Youth, St Peter’s Hospice and Young Bristol.

On collecting the award CHSW's Corporate Partnerships Fundraiser Amanda Gallagher thanked everyone for their ‘incredible support’ of CHSW and said;

This award isn’t for us, it’s for our care team and for the incredible families that we support in Bristol every day who are going through the most unimaginable of times.

Thank you to everyone who has ever done anything for Children’s Hospice South West in Bristol, we’re so fortunate to be supported by so many amazing businesses, thank you all.”

The awards ceremony was attended by over 600 representatives from Bristol based businesses and organisations and was held at Ashton Gate Stadium. With 22 awards up for grabs on the evening, the event was a true celebration of the best of Bristol.

CHSW runs three children’s hospices including Charlton Farm on the outskirts of Bristol. Since the pandemic Charlton Farm has had to adapt the care it provides for children with life-limiting conditions and their families. Now supporting children not only in the hospice, but also through home visits and virtual support. The hospice is currently looking after more than 200 children, their parents and siblings as well as 200 bereaved families, and costs around £3.9 million a year to run which is made up almost entirely of voluntary donations.
