Children’s Hospice charity shops celebrating Sustainable September
Local children’s charity, Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) is celebrating a national initiative to increase awareness of sustainability this month as part of Sustainable September.
The charity has 38 shops across the south west selling goods to help raise funds to support the care provided by the teams based at its 3 children’s hospices; Little Bridge House in north Devon, Charlton Farm in north Somerset and Little Harbour in mid Cornwall.
With second-hand fashion on the rise, CHSW estimates that so far this year sales from its shops have diverted 438 tonnes of items from landfill and saved almost 6 million tonnes of CO2 simply by customers buying preloved products rather than brand new.

Charity shops on our high streets play such a valuable role in the community and for the planet. They help reduce CO2, reduce waste going to landfill alongside providing opportunities for communities and vitally raising much needed funds so that our teams can keep providing expert care to children and families when they need it most.
This month CHSW is reminding everyone to visit their local charity shop, browse the preloved items for a bargain and is encouraging everyone to declutter with purpose.
