Haynes Publishing is seeing in the New Year on a charitable note, with the presentation of a four-figure sum to local children’s charity Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

When Sparkford-based Haynes published the third edition of its best-selling Baby Manual in 2018, it pledged 50p from each copy sold to be split equally between the charities CLIC Sargent and Children’s Hospice South West.

To mark 12 months since the publication of the latest edition of the Baby Manual, a donation of £3026.25 was made to CHSW.The-Haynes-Baby-Manual

We are inspired by CHSW’s goal to make the most of short and precious lives and to put children and families at the centre of all it does

The cheque was presented by Haynes CEO, J Haynes, and Managing Director Haynes Consumer, Jeremy Yates-Round, to Amanda Gallagher, Corporate Partnerships Fundraiser of Children's Hospice South West, at 11am on 7 January 2020 at Haynes’ head office in Sparkford, Somerset.

Haynes CEO, J Haynes, said: “We set out for the Baby Manual to be a practical manual on baby care written specifically for men, that helps them to be prepared for all the highs and lows of imminent parenthood. Therefore we were delighted to support Children’s Hospice South West as a charity local to us, and we are inspired by CHSW’s goal to make the most of short and precious lives and to put children and families at the centre of all it does.”

Amanda Gallagher from CHSW said: “We’d like to thank Haynes Publishing for this wonderful donation. Our three hospices in Somerset, Devon and Cornwall provide care for the whole family. As well as medical and nursing support for sick children, they offer specialist palliative care; short breaks and respite; a sibling service for brothers and sisters; emergency support; end-of-life care; and a bereavement service for as long as is needed. CHSW relies almost entirely on voluntary contributions to provide this vital care for more than 500 families every year. We just couldn’t do this without such generous support from the local business community.”
