Jonny Ellis, Managing Director of Arrowhead Management and a proud Gloucestershire local, went above and beyond by lacing up his running shoes for the iconic London Marathon in support of Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW). His incredible efforts have raised an impressive £19,600, including Gift Aid, for the local children’s hospice.
But it wasn’t just the running that turned heads. Jonny threw himself into fundraising with passion and creativity, kicking off efforts with a high-energy ‘Quiz Night’ that alone raised over £7,000. The event featured standout prizes, including Badminton Horse Trials and rugby tickets proving to be a smash hit.
Not stopping there, Jonny visited the Tesco store in Tetbury, setting up a branded charity stand, chatting with shoppers, and collecting £500 in donations during each visit. He also sold tote bags and key rings, adding even more to his incredible fundraising total.
CHSW is a local children's hospice that provides care for babies, children, and young people across the South West. Its local hospice, Charlton Farm in Wraxall, offers services such as short breaks, specialist play, sibling activities, and end-of-life care. With annual operational costs exceeding £12 million across its three locations, CHSW relies heavily on voluntary donations, with less than 11% of its funding coming from the government.
Amanda Leonard, Area Fundraiser for CHSW, shared:
Jonny is truly remarkable. His unwavering determination and resilience throughout both his fundraising efforts and training have been inspirational.
"The funds he has raised will make a significant difference to the babies, children, and young people that we support at our hospices."
A key part of Jonny’s success came from the generous backing of supporters, family and friends who rallied behind his mission to raise awareness and crucial funds for CHSW’s work supporting children and local families with life-limiting conditions.
To keep supporters engaged and updated, Jonny also shared regular video training updates on his social media, offering a behind-the-scenes look at his marathon prep.
His honest and often humorous updates helped build a strong sense of community around his fundraising journey.
With a mix of determination, creativity, and heart, Jonny became a fundraising force to be reckoned with and his journey has inspired many people across the South West.
