Location: All over the South West | Department: Fundraising | Vacancy Type: Voluntary | Start date:  Immediate

The role

Children’s Hospice South West are looking for people who are able to volunteer their time to represent CHSW in their local community. You will become an ambassador
for CHSW, helping to raise funds and awareness of the essential work we do to support and care for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions and their families across the South West.

Tasks may include:

  • Assisting with tin servicing and distribution
  • Arranging or supporting bucket collections
  • Attending cheque presentations and photo opportunities
  • Delivering talks about CHSW to local groups
  • Attending local community events.

Skills gained

  • Working within a team
  • Networking and community engagement
  • An understanding of the work of CHSW
  • Contribution to a cause.

Skills required

  • Be reliable and committed to supporting CHSW
  • Have good communication and teamwork skills
  • Be empathetic, respectful and inclusive when working with diverse groups
  • Be willing to undergo basic training or checks if required.

Practical considerations

For some roles we will require a Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check. We have a responsibility to protect the babies, children, young people and families we care for, so we will carry out a DBS check (formerly CRB) where needed. This can sometimes take up to a month, it is not a difficult process and you will be given help to complete the forms if needed. References will again depend on the role you are taking on, but most volunteers will be asked for at least 2 reliable references.

Ideal for

Individuals who may be looking to meet new friends, be part of a caring and passionate team, use existing skills or develop new ones. People wishing to boost their CV or
gain valuable experience in the charity sector, or simply give something back to their community.
