Karen worked in education for 33 years, and recently took early retirement from her post as Headteacher of Lampard Community Special School, in Barnstaple which she held for ten years. She brings a wealth of experience in leadership and management having worked in large secondary schools in London and Devon and for the University of Plymouth.
Karen is involved in a number of community groups and charities and has previously led a local group for a national charity supporting underprivileged children in Chernobyl.
Karen has lived in Fremington for 20 years, is married with two grown up daughters.
