Karen has worked in education for 30 years, has been Headteacher of Lampard Community Special School, in Barnstaple for the past seven years, retiring in July 2017. The school caters for children aged 5 – 16 years with complex learning difficulties and disabilities. Karen is a Trustee for a Co-operative Trust of Special Schools in Devon and is currently the Chair of that group. She brings a wealth of experience in leadership and management having previously worked in large secondary schools in London and Devon and for the University of Plymouth.
Karen is involved in a number of community groups and charities and has previously led a local group for a national charity supporting underprivileged children in Chernobyl.
Karen has lived in Fremington for 20 years, is married to a local police officer and they have two teenage daughters.
