Get ready for a fantastic day of golf, community spirit, and fundraising as Saltford Golf Club hosts its much-anticipated Captain’s Charity Team Golf Day on Friday 20 June, all in support of Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).
This year’s event is led by the club’s Captain Dave Boulton, who has chosen CHSW’s Charlton Farm hospice in Wraxall as his Charity of the Year after an emotional visit with his wife. Dave said:
We were impressed by all the facilities on offer, both inside the hospice and outside in the garden.
"We got a real sense of a relaxed, caring environment that enables families to spend quality time together, safe in the knowledge that their children are being well looked after.”
Deeply moved by the care and support offered by the hospice – and knowing a local family who has been directly supported by CHSW – Dave has thrown himself into championing the charity for the year.
Dave kicked off his fundraising in style earlier this month with a evening of football nostalgia and local celebrity. ‘An Evening with Geoff Twentyman and Gary Owers’, two legends of Bristol Rovers and Bristol City, brought fans together for stories, laughter, and a great cause. The raffle at the evening raised over £800 for CHSW.
Now, attention turns to the green, as golf teams from across the region are invited to tee up for a brilliant cause. The Captain’s Charity Day promises a full day of friendly competition, prizes, and fundraising fun – all while supporting the vital work of CHSW.
Children’s Hospice South West provides expert care and support for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions across the region. With services including short breaks, specialist play, sibling support and end-of-life care, CHSW relies almost entirely on public donations to continue its work. Less than 11% of its annual £14 million running costs comes from government funding.
Heidi Roberts, Area Fundraiser for CHSW, said:
It is a real pleasure working with Dave Boulton.
He visited our Charlton Farm hospice in Wraxall, which is the local children’s hospice for Saltford and Keynsham families, and has been so proactive in raising awareness ever since. I’m sure the events he’s organising will be a huge success, and all funds raised will make a real difference to local families.”
This event will feature a variety of fun activities taking place throughout the day. If you would like to donate a prize, please contact Chloe in the Club Office at events@saltfordgolfclub.co.uk or call 01225 873513 (option 2).
