Funding your overseas challenge

What is an open challenge?

If you can't find anything to whet your appetite within our featured and listed overseas challenges, then why not do your own thing and take up an open challenge with one of our carefully selected overseas tour providers?   All you need to do is pick a destination, sign up and start fundraising.

An open challenge is a fantastic adventure with a group of like-minded people, all raising money for different charities. You will receive the same level of care as on our own challenge events, and your charity challenge leaders will take good care of you throughout your trip.

The sky really is the limit with an open challenge. Our selected tour operators organise challenge events all over the world.  Whether you want to trek across the Jordan Desert to Petra or fancy the adrenalin rush of white water rafting on the Zambezi there'll be match your sense of adventure.

If you are an individual

Participating in an open challenge offers you lots of flexibility. It enables you to undertake the challenge of a lifetime for the charity of your choice. This is perfect if you already hold a particular charity close to your heart that doesn’t have the resources to hold their own event or if the charity you want to support is not offering the challenge event at a time that suits you. There is also flexibility in how you fund your challenge.

Your three options are outlined below:

Option One – Minimum Sponsorship

You pay the event registration fee direct to the challenge provider when you register for the event. You must then raise the agreed minimum amount of sponsorship and donations as specified by your chosen charity, which must be sent to the charity at least ten weeks before the event departure date and part of which will be used by them to pay the tour costs on your behalf.

Tour costs include air fares, accommodation, food, transfers, guides and event support.

Option Two – Self Funding with Sponsorship

You pay the event registration fee direct to the tour provider when you register for the event. You can then choose to self-fund your trip by paying all the tour costs yourself which will need to be paid to the tour operator ten weeks before the departure date to secure your place on the event. You are encouraged to make an additional personal donation or raise an unspecified amount of sponsorship for the charity of your choice.

Option Three – Self Funding

You pay the event registration fee direct to the tour provider when you register for the event. You then pay the full tour costs of the event yourself which need to be paid to your times ten weeks before the departure date to secure your place on the event.
