Unfortunately there are no facilities and we cannot accept liability for anything you leave behind. Please bring only what you need and are able to carry for the night.

Unfortunately, places are non-transferable to another participant. 

Places are non-refundable. Upon medical evidence refunds maybe given at the discretion of the Fundraising Manager. 

In the unlikely event that CHSW has to cancel the event, all participants will be contacted about a registration fee refund and any sponsorship money received by CHSW can be refunded on the request of the sponsor.  

Only registered participants can gain entry to the venue on the night and therefore only those with a walker number will be given access. 

Unfortunately, you cannot turn up on the evening if you have only added a dedication. 

For health and safety reasons, only registrants who have been sent their walker number and registered for one of our limited spaces will be able to join us on the evening. If you've decided you would now like to join the in-person event, please register with the relevant ticket on our website.

Of course! Everyone is invited to join us to celebrate the memories they have of their loved ones.  

In Cornwall, the event is open to anyone 12 years old and over.  

In Clevedon and Bath, the event is open to people of all ages.

Unfortunately dogs are not able to take part this year due to limited space in the event village and low lighting which may result in leads becoming a trip hazard.

The event will take place in the dark, however we'll marshal the route for your safety and there are street lights on the route. We recommend you bring a torch and mobile phone.  

We ask all participants to aim to raise £60. The money raised from Moonlight Memory Walk will help support more than 500 families currently being cared for at our 3 hospices.

If attending the event at Heligan, you'll be required to follow the guided 2k route that has been marshalled. You can choose to complete this route one or twice to complete 4k.

The walk is a 5k circular route, that you will need to walk to get back to the event village. However, if you do find that you are struggling with the distance, then please do talk to one of our volunteer marshals on the route, and we can sort out a shorter way back for you. 

  

Setting up a dedication a part of this event is optional. You are welcome to take part and remember your loved one by personalising your memory box and candle bag. However, if you decide you would still like your loved ones name/s to be a part of the  memory ceremonies, please:

Of course - you'll have a link to share with friends and family members to view the dedication via the Moonlight Memory Walk webpage. They can then make a donation. 

Once you've signed up, you'll be sent a confirmation email.  Following your registration, you'll receive your welcome pack by email with the links and information you need about the event.  

In the coming weeks, we'll post your memory pack which will also contain your walker number and everything else you'll need for the evening (except your T-shirt which you'll collect on the night).  

 

It's not a race! The route will approximately take 1hour to 1.5 hours to complete. There will be front walking marshals that will set the pace but they must not be passed by any participants for strict health and safety reasons.

Yes, of course! The route takes place on paths, which are in places narrow and uphill so you may require assistance. One named carer will be welcomed to join you to provide assistance on the night.

Moonlight Memory Walk Cornwall is a private event being held by Children’s Hospice South West and only registered participants of the walk can access the venue on the night. 

Please read our Moonlight Memory Walk participant safety brief to ensure you are fit to take part in this event and conditions of walking on the evening.

We recommend you dress up warm with a coat and comfortable trainers. Previous participants to our Clevedon or Cornwall events can wear one of their old Memory Walk T–shirts or collect a new one on the evening.

Bright, glowing the dark clothing, light-up accessories and fairy lights are very much encouraged! 

If attending our Cornwall or Clevedon events, you need to remember to bring your walker number and “I am walking in memory of…” sign along with your decorated candle bag to hand in to our memory team.

We also recommend you bring a torch and mobile phone. 

Unfortunately, if the back marshal has already left you will be unable to take part in the walk for health and safety reasons.

The British weather is notoriously unpredictable, so we will be keeping an eye on the forecast. If the weather is deemed unsafe, we will postpone the event and alternative date will be arranged and you will be notified by text and email. If you cannot make the alternative date, a refund will be offered, or you can offer your event fee as a donation. 

If achievable, the format of the evening may change to allow it still to go ahead in some form. 

A dedication is where you can add the name and a photo of loved ones you are remembering. You can also leave a special message for them. This is free to do and we welcome you to set up more than one dedication in memory of more than one person.

There will be music and entertainment throughout the evening. The memory ceremony will begin promptly at 6:30pm and the walk will begin with staggered starts between 7:00pm and 7:15pm.

Registrants attending the event at The Lost Gardens of Heligan will pay a registration fee which includes your free entry into the venue on the night, T shirt, pasty, goody bag and commemorative medal. It also includes the postal mailing of your memory pack that contains your, candle bag, "I am walking for..." back sign and walker number. You are also invited to add photos and messages to our online dedication page for free.
