A nationwide virtual challenge taking place on 26 April 2020
The 2.6 Challenge will launch on Sunday 26 April – what should have been the date of the 40th London Marathon, the world’s biggest one-day annual fundraising event.
No need to be a marathon runner to take part, this is a challenge for all ages and abilities. Just get thinking of an activity based around the numbers 26 or 2.6 and complete it on or from Sunday 26 April.
You can choose to walk, run or cycle 2.6 miles, juggle for 2.6 minutes, or even host online workouts with 26 friends. Whatever you can do, you can be part of it, the main thing is getting active, having fun and donating whatever you can to help support Children's Hospice South West. The only requirement is that you must follow Government guidelines on exercise and social distancing.
Once you’re ready, remember to help to inspire the nation by sharing photos or videos of your challenge, tag your friends on social media and challenge them to join in too, making sure you use the official hashtag #TwoPointSixChallenge
UK charities like us, need your help
The COVID-19 pandemic has had a catastrophic effect with the cancellation of thousands of events and the loss of billions in income through fundraising events. The Virgin Money London Marathon alone, which should have taken place on Sunday 26 April, is the world’s biggest one-day fundraising event, which raised more than £66.4 million for thousands of charities in 2019.
Many of these charities have had to reduce or stop services at a time when vulnerable members of society need them most; thousands of staff have been placed on furlough and many charities will not survive the next few months.
