Corporate volunteers
We welcome the support of local businesses wanting to volunteer for us and there are so many ways to get involved! With so many companies offering their teams the chance to give up some time for a good cause, we have a range of different ways in which you can help. Although these opportunities are limited, we’d love to hear from you!
Volunteering benefits your company and employees:
- Promote employee bonding and relationship building, particularly across departments that rarely work together
- Demonstrate your organisation’s CSR values and commitment
- Work towards B Corp accreditation for your organisation
- Build employee morale and loyalty
- Participants leave feeling re-energised and motivated, which can greatly increase employee productivity and retention
- Develop a sense of achievement through doing something worthwhile for your local community
- Staff can learn new skills and build confidence
- Raise your company’s profile in the local community

Here, at THE PIG at Combe, we’re proud to support Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW), a charity making an incredible difference to families in our region. Over the years, our team has helped in all sorts of ways, from fundraising and donations to volunteering and raising awareness. Whether it’s walking the South West Coast Path, refreshing the gardens at Little Bridge House, or arranging afternoon tea for family members, our PIG People love getting involved. It’s been a truly rewarding experience working together. Thank you, CHSW, for everything you do.

Get involved with corporate volunteering

At our events
Help us with set up on the day before a CHSW event, or on the day itself. This could involve working on the registration desk, marshalling, or helping us pack down afterwards!

In the office
We are often in need of volunteers to assist with research, database inputting, preparing mailings or helping to organise events.

In our gardens
Help with the maintenance of our beautiful hospice grounds and gardens. This could involve clearing paths and public areas. Please note, we can’t always accommodate large groups at our hospices and these opportunities are limited to certain dates of the year.

Promote our work
Help us promote our events and raise awareness of our work by joining us on promotional activities or flyering days.
In our shops
As well as being able to help our customers find good quality bargains in the shop, our volunteers also help to raise much needed funds to provide expert care in our three hospices.

In our hospices
Help our dedicated Facilities team in maintenance of our three hospices. You could help by cleaning the ball pit in our soft play or by helping to sort our toy rooms.
Corporate volunteer stars of 2024, Goonvean Group
Katie, Head of Sustainability, tells us what she loves about partnering with CHSW

"In 2024 The Goonvean Group embarked on our first charity partnership - fortunately, we made the correct decision in our choice to support Children's Hospice South West. From our very first contact with them, we realised that we would not simply be raising money but working together in a partnership raising much needed funds for the hospices themselves but also benefitting our businesses and colleagues in a way we couldn't have anticipated.
Working across our group they have linked each business with their designated area fundraiser, and we have held both individual and group events at our sites, supported all the way by their incredible fundraising team. We have also taken part in CHSW organised events such as The Incredible Hike which from start to finish was an amazing experience - the team managing the event were second to none with regular contact and information leading up to the event not to mention superb logistics, care and support throughout the 60 mile hike.
As a charity partner, it feels as though the care, attention to detail and individualised support from the fundraising team in our endeavours mirrors the ethos and effort within the hospices themselves supporting families throughout the toughest times to make the most precious memories with their children. It is a pleasure as an organisation to play even just a small part in the work that they do.CHSW rely on voluntary donations to continue to care for local children with life-limiting conditions and their families. As well as providing emergency and end of life care, they also provide precious hospice stays for the whole family and a sibling service for brothers and sis
