Philanthropy - Trusts and Foundations
Make an impact with your charitable giving for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions and their families across the South West.
Support from philanthropists, charitable trusts and foundations plays a huge part in supporting our mission to make the most of short and precious lives and making a difference to the children and families we care for.
Grants, large and small impact children and families
- £1,000 could fund a Christmas stay at 1 of our hospices

- £10,000 could fund medical consumables for 1 hospice for 1 year
- £25,000 could fund...
Becoming a supporter of CHSW through your trust, foundation, or DAF means you are an important contributor to the children’s hospice movement across the South West of England. You can decide the way in which you would like to give, including by location by supporting Little Bridge House in Devon, Charlton Farm in North Somerset, or Little Harbour in Cornwall.
There are various ways we can work together to ensure your contribution is supporting your charitable mission and objectives. Our team are on hand to discuss what may work best for you in terms of identifying the best outcomes to suit your aims. Grants may be Unrestricted or Restricted at CHSW:
Unrestricted grants
Funding that allows CHSW the flexibility to respond to emerging needs, invest in core operations retain skilled staff, innovate services and build long-term sustainability, helping us maximise impact and deliver our mission.
Project-specific grants (restricted funding)
Support an aspect of our work that aligns to your objectives, such as work in Music Therapy, play, nursing, sibling work and supporting bereaved families.
Capital grants (restricted funding)
Enable CHSW to build, expand or refurbish facilities and purchase essential equipment, which supports the delivery of our high-quality services.
Donor Advised Funds (DAFs)
We work with various DAF providers and are delighted to accept grants in this way
What is a DAF?
A Donor Advised Fund is a charitable giving account used solely to support charitable causes.
Individuals, families or organisations can contribute cash, shares or other assets into their DAF account and then recommend grants to charities over time. Many supporters choose a DAF because it can make charitable giving easier and more effective.
- Flexible - you can choose what to give, when to give and what causes to support
- Offer tax benefits, depending on your circumstances
- Simple to manage, with administration handled by your supplier
- Grow over time, if the fund is invested
- Allow anonymous giving if preferred
- Support long-term giving as part of your estate planning
If you're considering a DAF, we recommend speaking to your financial advisor to find the right option for you.
If you want to make a meaningful difference to children with life-limiting conditions and families, and already hold a Donor Advised Fund, please contact your DAF provider and request that they make a donation to:

If you would like to discuss how your gift will be used, we would be pleased to speak with you or a representative from your DAF provider.
