Yes, all participants running the Marathon need to be 18 or older. All participants running the Half Marathon need to be 17 or older. 10k participants must be 15 or older.

You can defer Marathon, Half Marathon and 10k places to next year for an admin fee of £5 Please email runbarnstaple@chsw.org.uk 

However, individuals cannot transfer to another CHSW event or transfer their place to another runner. Race distance changes or deferrals to 2027 must be received by 23 September 2026. 

This event is aimed at runners of all speeds and levels, so we don’t want to encourage this to be a walking event. The marathon route needs be completed by the cut off time of 7 hours, and the half marathon cut off is 6 hours. If during the race, you foresee a problem and believe you will not be able to complete in time, you will need to tell the nearest marshal who will assist you.

Unfortunately, the route is not wheelchair accessible.  

To change your marathon entry type please call 01271 325 270 before Wednesday 23 September. 

For those changing races, there will be an admin fee of £5, payment to be made over the phone.  

We cannot accept any transfers after Wednesday 23 September. 

 

No, wheeled devices are not accepted, including pushchairs and baby joggers.

Yes, for the Marathon the cut off time is 7 hours, and for the Half Marathon it is 6 hours.

Yes, the RUN Barnstaple races have a Certificate of Course Accuracy, and from 2025 will be registered and licensed by RunEvents.

There will be a finishers medal.

CHSW running vests and T-shirts and RUN Barnstaple T-shirts are available to purchase at the point of registration.

 

Ticket sales for all RUN Barnstaple events closes on Wednesday 23 September at 5pm. There will be no on the day ticket sales. 

Yes, your registration fee goes towards the cost of putting on the event.

Any additional sponsorship helps to raise vital funds to care for and support babies, children and young people living with life-limiting conditions and their families.

 

Registrations for the 2025 event close on at 5pm on Wednesday 24 2025 and there are no on-the-day registrations. Race distance changes or deferrals to 2026 MUST also be received by then. 

 

Registrations for the 2026 event close on at 5pm on Wednesday 23 September 2026 and there are no on-the-day registrations. Race distance changes or deferrals to 2027 MUST also be received by then. 

The Marathon starts at 9am, the Half Marathon at 10am, the 10k at 11am and Final Mile at 1pm. 

Yes, as the races hold a RunEvents licence they will be added to Power of 10.

 We prefer you not to wear headphones, this is for your safety and for other people using the route. If you choose to wear headphones, please do not wear them on any of the road sections of the races.
