Step into Summer!
A five mile sponsored hike, taking in the beautiful Prior Woods full of wildlife, and the stunning surroundings of our Charlton Farm children’s hospice.
Priors Wood is a beautiful area that was once part of the Tyntesfield Estate, and parts of the wood date back to the 1600’s. The wood is full of wildlife, including buzzards, chiffchaffs and garden warblers, and roe deer. The event will be on uneven and steep terrain, therefore is not suitable for pushchairs or wheelchairs.
Get ready to Ramble!
Our Summer Ramble is a 5 mile sponsored walk around the grounds of Charlton Farm hospice, taking in Priors Wood, part of the Gordano Round foothpath. Kate Fox-Robinson, Sibling Support Worker at Charlton Farm, explains how the surroundings benefit all who stay and work at the hospice.
“We try and make use of our beautiful setting all year round, collecting flowers for the house, feeding the horses, making art from fallen leaves, playing in the sandpit or the willow tunnel. Priors Wood is a wonderful place to take the children to explore, to build dens, to picnic, to create nature scavenger hunts and to talk, which is a vital part of the work we do supporting siblings of children who have life-limiting conditions.”

Join us at 10.30am on the day, with the walk starting at 11.15am. As you will need to sign in, and back out, on the day, please arrive at 10.30am prompt, and visit the marquee in the event village area to sign in.
We will have Toot Sweet Coffee van, so you can fuel up on caffeine before setting off, and an ice cream van for sweet ice cream treats. Feel free to bring your own picnic if you would like to stay and enjoy your lunch after the walk, and we will also provide scones, jam and cream for you to feast on after burning off calories walking. When you sign in you will be given a free reusable CHSW water bottle that you can fill from our water urns, and take away with you after the event to use again and again.
Sax in the City will be joining us after the walk to kindly provide the background music for your picnic.
There will be parking available, though this is limited and we recommend car sharing to try and be as green as possible
The route will take you through the beautiful Wraxall countryside, so please remember to follow the Countryside Code so that we have as little impact on the countryside as possible.
