No you don't.  We'll take your word for it. However, if you want to show your supporters you have completed your chosen distance, we recommend you download Strava and link this to your Just Giving page or social media.  This can also help increase your fundraising.

To change your marathon entry type please call 01271 325 270 before Friday 15 September.

For those changing from the half marathon to the full, there will be an admin fee of £5, payment to be made over the phone.

We cannot accept any transfers after Friday 15 September.

The race pack containing your race number will be sent by the event organisers. Please visit the FAQs section on the event organiser’s website for more details. We'll send a separate race pack containing your CHSW running vest, if you have given us your size.

Once a Will has been made, it is important to keep it up to date and account for any changes in your circumstances. For example, you may now have had a child or grandchild, you may have moved home, or your financial situation may have changed. It is also advisable to reconsider the contents of your Will regularly to make sure that it still reflects your wishes.

Yes, of course! the course is flat and on a solid surface. Carers can take part for free.  Please contact us on 01726 871 800 if you require someone to push you in a wheelchair

You have the right to cancel this contract within 14 days without giving any reason. This cancellation period will expire 14 days after the day on which you (or the person you nominate) received the goods, or received the final item from an order for several items. To exercise your right to cancel you must inform us in a clear statement sent by post or email to the address below.

Children's Hospice South West, Little Bridge House, Redlands Road, Fremington, Barnstaple, Devon, EX31 2PZ

If you cancel this contract, we will refund all payments received from you, including the costs of standard delivery only. We may make a deduction for the loss in value of the goods, if the loss is the result of unnecessary handling by you.

We will make the refund as soon as possible, and no later than 14 days from the day you return any goods, or provide evidence of return. We may withhold the refund until we have received the returned goods, or you have supplied evidence of having sent back the goods, whichever is the earliest.

We will make the refund using the same means of payment that you used for the initial purchase unless you have expressly agreed otherwise. You will not incur any fees as a result of the refund.

You shall send back the goods without undue delay and in any event not later than 14 days from the day on which you communicate your cancellation of this contract to us. The deadline is met if you send back the goods before the period of 14 days has expired.

Returned goods should be in perfect condition to obtain the full refund and we ask that you arrange and pay for return postage (unless the goods are faulty). If goods are faulty you can request a replacement instead of a refund.

Charitable donations made with an order cannot be refunded.

If you cannot complete your run on any of these dates, complete it on any other day following this week and let us know when you have completed it!

Yes, but only a small one. Your employer will use a Payroll Giving Agent (like a charity bank) to distribute the donations that you and your colleagues make. The Payroll Giving Agents are charities that need to make a small charge to cover their operating costs. Some employers pay this fee on your behalf so we receive your full donation.

If your employer doesn’t pay the fee, the Payroll Giving Agent will deduct it from your donation before passing it on to us. This will be between 2% and 4%. This compares favourably against the admin costs of claiming Gift Aid on a Direct Debit donation.

Raise a smile Lottery tickets can be purchased through the CHSW website by regular play Direct Debit or by debit card payment only. One-off play tickets are available from CHSW Charity Shops. One-off play tickets purchased after Thursday 5pm will be entered in the following week's draw.

Yes. Many of our volunteers work full time. We aim to provide flexible roles which can be carried out around your other commitments, be they work, family or leisure.

You can create a free online fundraising page, personalise it with a photo and share it with friends and family by message, email or on social media. They can donate quickly and securely online with a credit or debit card. Create your page now at JustGiving and save yourself the hassle of collecting the money! We will also supply you with a sponsor form so you can do it the old fashioned way!

Yes, setting up a gift online is also completely safe. Any personal information you enter onto our online Direct Debit pages (including, name, address and bank account details) is encrypted before being sent to us.

Your information is saved in a secure environment using industry standard practices. You are then covered by the Direct Debit guarantee. We will write to you to confirm the details of your gift, and give you at least 21 days before taking the first payment. You can amend or cancel at any time.

The Incredible Hike As You Like is a virtual event where you can complete a hiking challenge of your choice, whilst raising smiles for children and families that are supported by our three hospices.

Whether you are looking for a scenic stroll with beautiful views, or a challenge like no other, hiking in the South West provides a wonderfully dramatic and stunning backdrop.
You may not need to venture very far to find your nearest green (or blue) space, so step outside your front door, head for your local park, canal, lake or coast.

To inspire you, we have put together 30 “Incredible Hike as you Like” ideas…. 30 beautiful routes across the South West, to celebrate our 30th year. Choose one, or take on all 30, its entirely up to you.

We provide emergency care for many families, and this can be for a number of reasons. It may be that the child is very poorly and the family would like the support that the hospice provides, both physically and emotionally.

An emergency may not necessarily be with the sick child. A parent maybe ill, recovering from an operation, or attending a family funeral for example, and may need additional assistance with their child during this time.

All participants must be aged 18 or over, unless they are accompanied by a parent or legal guardian (a minimum age of 14 then applies). A teacher or youth leader acting in loco parentis is not adequate. The parent or legal guardian must complete a Parental Consent Form prior to the event and will need to remain within sight and earshot of the minor – this will normally mean that they need to be with the minor whilst they prepare and accompany their child as is reasonably practicable during their participation.

We recommend an upper age limit of 70 years for participation, and for any individuals to consult their Doctor if they have an concerns about their health or ability.

If you are taking part with your school or swimming group,  please ask everyone to register online and include your school name within the group.

Yes, you can reserve a DVD of your jump for £140; photographs for £140; or a DVD and photograph package for £185.

We ask all participants to aim to raise £50. The money raised from Moonlight Memory walk will help support more than 550 families currently being cared for at our 3 hospices.

Absolutely! Whatever event you are taking part in we would love you to join Team CHSW. Phone your local hospice or email event@chsw.org.uk and we'll send you a fundraising pack and CHSW running top.

A decision will be made each day if conditions are deemed unsafe to cycle. This will consider wind, torrential rain, thunder and a temperature above 28C or any condition that it is considered dangerous to continue - then we may decide to abandon the event for that day. But a little rain won’t stop us!

You may still pay tax on a private pension plan or a savings account, or pay Capital Gains Tax if you sell property or shares. If this is the case, please tick the Gift Aid declaration.

If you're attending one of our events in person you will receive a medal at the finish line.

If you’re participating in the facebook Challenge and raise £50 or more, a medal will be sent to you in the post.

No. Only fill out the own place running form if you have already purchased a place from the event organisers.

The event village will open at 9.30am. Your wave time will be allocated by the order participants register for the event on our website. For health and safety, we will not have more than 500 participants per wave. The first wave will be 11.00am, the second wave will be at 12.00 noon and the third wave at 1.00pm depending on demand. Your start time will be confirmed when we send your fundraising pack.

Please turn up one hour before your start time to register, be a part of the event village and enjoy the warm up.

Gift Aid is a government scheme that allows charities to reclaim the tax on your donations. This means that every £10 donation you give under the Gift Aid scheme is worth £12.50 to CHSW - at no extra cost to you.

Yes. The tour operators and ground agents are very experienced in organising challenges such as these and you will be accompanied by a tour leader, a doctor as well as English-speaking local guides and porters who are all there to ensure your safety and enjoyment of the trip. The routes we take are well established and known well by our guides. The tour operators will be aware of any rising political, health or safety issues affecting the countries our supporters visit.

We rely on the support of volunteers across all departments. From covering reception to serving refreshments in our hospices and helping in our shops, our volunteers enable us to raise funds and deliver our services. You can find available opportunities on our volunteering opportunities page.

Opportunities include:

  • administration
  • shops
  • catering/housekeeping
  • complementary therapies
  • creative art activities
  • driving
  • events and fundraising
  • flower arranging and gardening
  • maintenance/decorating
  • public speaking/ambassador
  • reception
  • telephone support

If you can't complete your run on these dates, you're welcome to do it either the week before or even the week after the 11 December. Let us know when you've completed it. For your photos to be included in the virtual competitions they must be added by the evening of Sunday 12 December.

Yes, for the full marathon the cut off time is 7 hours, and the cut off time for half marathon is 6 hours.

Unfortunately, we're only a small team and can't get to every event our supporters take part in. If we're attending the event, we'll let you know where we'll be on the day, six weeks before event day. Your friends and family are welcome to join us!

You'll leave the Colour Craze looking very colourful, and we recommend a few showers to rinse off the paint. If you have stubborn colours in your hair washing up liquid works a treat to rid the colours. If your hair is very light, or colour treated, you may wish to wear a hat or headscarf to minimise the paint contact.

Please read our Moonlight Memory Walk participant safety brief to ensure you are fit to take part in this event and conditions of walking on the evening.

If you would like to check your tickets, please call 01271 313 311, Monday to Friday from 9am to 4.30pm. At all other times please leave a message on our answerphone or complete our online enquiry form.

We would like to know who our generous supporters are. It gives us the opportunity to acknowledge the important decision you have made. Letting us know also helps us to plan for the future and keep you informed about our ongoing work.

You can bring your sponsorship on the day, pay it in via our online donation form or send a cheque with your sponsorship forms to our hospice:

Little Harbour, Porthpean Road, Porthpean, St Austell, PL26 6AZ

It is not usually commercially viable for most shop teams to collect donations from your home. However, collections can sometimes be arranged locally, so it's worth asking your local shop (contact details can be found on our Shopfinder). Our furniture shops (which you can also find through our Shopfinder) sometimes offer a local collection service.

You'll find the links to the pre-recorded warm-up on our Be Incredible Facebook group. Please join the page to upload your photos and videos to enter our competitions too! But let us know if you don't have access to Facebook and we'll send you the links.

Your donation is very important to us and we will write to thank you on an annual basis if you have chosen for us to contact you. We may also send you updates on our work if you have indicated that you are happy to receive these. You will know the deduction has started as it will appear on your payslip.

Once a family starts to visit our hospices, our care team are available to help them think about the choices they may wish to consider when their child nears the end of their life. An end of life care plan is a document that outlines you and your child’s wishes for their end of life care, including management of pain, other symptoms and provision of psychological, social, spiritual and support for the family into bereavement

The end of life phase begins when a judgement is made that no more treatment is possible, to ensure care helps children who are no longer receiving curative treatment to live as well as possible until they die. Including care during and around the time of death, and immediately afterwards. Enabling supportive and palliative care needs of both child and the family to be identified and met throughout the last phase of life.

Families may wish to come to the hospice for care towards the end of their child’s life. We would always view these stays as a priority. Families may also wish to stay at home or in a hospital and then come to the hospice after their child has died. Whatever the family decides our care team can offer support, advice and practical help whether at home or in the hospice.

Each participant will have to wear a wetsuit and will need to bring suitable swimwear to wear underneath. Appropriate footwear, trainers or walking boots are best, no heels, flip flops  or sandals. You will need a towel, warm clothes and water proofs for after your abseil. Long hair should be tied back and you should remove any dangly earrings/necklaces etc. Glass retainers should be worn if there is any risk of them falling off.  Any medication that you need, food and water and a camera for taking photos!

Just email Hollie and she will help you with any questions you have!

The minimum age is 16 years and there is no upper age limit.  If you are aged under 18 you must obtain parental consent using BPA form 106.

All participants should carefully read the declaration of fitness form 115A.  It may be necessary to consult your GP and ask them to sign and stamp form 115B.

The standard upper weight limit is 15 stone / 95 kilos fully clothed.  Please call Skydive Buzz if you are between 15 and 18 stone.

All forms can be downloaded from the Skydive Buzz website.

Santas on the Run is a fun 2k run, walk, or jog at either the Eden Project in Cornwall and Charlton Farm in North Somerset or alternatively you can choose to create your own route and take part virtually in our Facebook Challenge. This year we will not be providing Santa suits but we are letting you decide if you want to twinkle in tinsel, rock it like Rudolph or sleigh it like Santa - dress up in your festive gear and complete a challenge of your choice all whilst raising seasonal smiles for children and families that are supported by our three hospices.

We offer short breaks away for the whole family, for respite and relaxation. Mums, Dads, brothers and sisters can all come and stay at our hospices.

We provide one-to-one specialist care for the sick child. This allows the family the chance to have a break away from the worries of caring, and to be together as a family. In this respect, what we provide is completely unlike any other care available.

We would love you to and it may help you raise even more money! But make sure that it wouldn’t hinder the fitting of your harness and is big enough to go over a wetsuit – please get in touch before hand so we can make sure it’s suitable.  If you do come in fancy dress, please do bring a spare change of clothes, just in case your costume isn't suitable.

No! Anyone can take part, because you are completing the event in your own time, at your own pace, on your own terms.

A tandem skydive is an easy and enjoyable way to experience the thrills of skydiving.  Once aboard the aircraft, you will be securely harnessed to your Instructor as you ride up to your chosen altitude.  The aircraft takes approximately 10 minutes to climb to 15,000ft, giving you time to take in the views.  Once at altitude, you will get the green light for GO!

During freefall, you will experience speeds of approximately 120mph for up to a minute, falling around 2 miles.  As the canopy opens, you will be aware of the sudden tranquillity as your speed dramatically decreases.  This allows you to talk with your Instructor, take in the expansive scenery during the 5 minute parachute ride, and land safely after helping your Instructor to steer the parachute around the sky before gliding back to the airfield.

At the Clevedon and Cornwall events, you will receive a medal as you cross the finish line.

You'll need to complete an application form from the event page. Some events are by application process, we aim to let you know the result of your application as soon as possible. Some events are confirmed instantly as long as you are committed to raising the minimum fundraising pledge and you pay a registration fee.

Every participant in a Children’s Hospice South West Challenge Event, no matter what the event is, will receive:

  • Fundraising and training advice
  • Regular contact from the Challenge Events team
  • The opportunity to visit a Children’s Hospice South West hospice
  • Children’s Hospice South West vest or T-shirt.

For more information on the support available from Children’s Hospice South West, have a look at our fundraising page.

Children's Hospice South West can only directly claim back at the basic rate but please complete and return the declaration.

As a higher rate taxpayer, if you declare your donations on your tax return, you can claim a rebate based on the difference between the higher rate and the basic rate when you fill in your self-assessment form.

Only those people who have paid to enter will be able to access the event village and take part in the event. We won't be accepting on the day sign ups this year due to limiting capacity for each wave time.  This is also to ensure we can carefully manage everyone’s safety. Why not encourage them to sign up and take part!

No. We gratefully receive any sponsorship our own place runners collect. No matter how small you think this amount may be, it will go a long way to help support our work.

Children over the age of 5 will love this event. They are allowed to come as long as they are participating with an adult and have the option However you must hold their hand or with younger ones carry them as you go through the foam at each Bubble Station.
