If you are concerned that this might happen, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can offer help and guidance. Give your local community fundraiser a call and we'll try and help you avoid this. Our fundraising ideas page and your fundraising pack will give you lots of great ideas on how to reach your target.

Winners will be notified within 1 week of the draw date by telephone first, followed by email, where their details will be verified. Once verified a cheque is sent by post. Winning ticket numbers are also published on the CHSW website.

You can make a donation online, either as a single donation or a regular direct debit.

If you don’t wish to give online, you can give a credit/debit card donation over the telephone by 01271 325 270 (Monday-Thursday 9.00am-5.00pm and Friday 9.00am-4.30pm) or please send us a cheque, made payable to Children's Hospice South West, Little Bridge House, Redlands Road, Fremington, Barnstaple, Devon, EX31 2PZ.

We understand that you may want to leave a gift to a project close to your heart - and you're entitled to do this. However, we encourage gifts left to us to be unrestricted. We're then free to use the money where it is most needed at the time.

Of course!

Please call the following numbers to get you up and running:

We'd suggest a change of clothes and shoes as well as a towel so you can dry down after the event but it does depend how much time you spend in the foam.

Please note there is no bag drop facility at the event so please ensure you can store this in your car, or bring along a cheer squad who can look after them for you.

Yes – Please email Kate if you would like to help with this

Times will be confirmed leading up to event day.

Between April 2022 and March 2023, an average of 56p in every £1 went directly to fund care for children, young people and families. 9p was used to fund prizes and 35p covered the cost of running the lottery and the recruitment of new players.

In the UK, inheritance tax is currently paid to the government at a rate of 40% if your estate is worth more than £325,000. However, the rate might be reduced to 36% if 10% or more of your estate is left to charity.

Most gifts left to Children's Hospice South West are exempt from inheritance tax because we are a charity. You can find out more by contacting HMRC or a solicitor.

No problem.  Please contact your event fundraiser.

Rainbow Run is not a race and therefore everyone gets a medal as they cross the finish line!

CHSW and its recycling partners can help turn mobile phones, gadgets and computers into money - to go towards supporting our work.  Find out more on how and what to recycle with CHSW.

CHSW operates a Sibling Service at each hospice, providing dedicated support and care to the brothers and sisters of life-limited children.

During family stays, the siblings can spend as much or as little time as needed with a devoted sibling team. Contact is maintained with the siblings during their time at the hospice, between visits with newsletters, emails and days out and after their brother or sister’s death, for as long as they need.

Yes. If you receive an occupational pension and your pension provider deducts tax through the PAYE system, you are still eligible for the scheme. Simply ask your occupational pension provider to make a donation from your pension before tax has been deducted.

After signing-in on the day, you will be  taken over as a group to go through an abseil demo - a chance for you to have a go on a grass slope first and have a few practices with an instructor on hand who provides coaching and helps deal with any questions that you might have. So there is no need to worry about previous experience. Even if you let go of the abseil rope during the abseil an instructor at the top will have you on a separate safety rope so you are completely safe throughout your challenge.

There will be around five staff on the day to help you with your abseil including an instructor half way down the abseil to encourage you down and to take action shot photos of you and another instructor at the bottom of the abseil as a friendly face to greet and help you sort out your kit.

You are very well looked after throughout the event and there is plenty of time to have practice abseiling and enjoy the wonderful grounds in which the event is staged.

We have a team of fundraisers here at CHSW  who are on hand to offer you any ideas and advice you may need. Our first tip would be to set up an online fundraising page on Virgin Money Giving, and then to investigate whether your company or any local businesses will be able to support you.

After your safety briefing with an experienced instructor who will teach you everything you need to know, you will be ready to take to the skies.  On your pre-boarding call, your instructor will prepare you for your skydive - fitting your jumpsuit, head gear, goggles (suitable for contact lenses/glasses), gloves and harness.

You'll need to complete an application form from the event page. Some events are by application process, we aim to let you know the result of your application as soon as possible. Some events are confirmed instantly as long as you are committed to raising the minimum fundraising pledge and you pay a registration fee.

Our overseas adventures are all run by tour operators on our behalf, as the tour operators have the experience, insurance and ATOL protection necessary to run these kinds of challenges. Therefore, registration fees should be sent directly to the appropriate tour operator when you complete your booking form.

Please note also, that the terms and conditions of your booking are with the tour operator rather than with Children’s Hospice South West - we will only stipulate fundraising terms and conditions, and do not have any control over insurance, travel arrangements or anything else to do with the trip itself. If you would like more information about this, then just get in touch.

We ask every Incredible Hiker to commit to raising the suggested minimum sponsorship of £1,000. Your registration fee covers the cost of your event support, hotel stays, food and Team Hike apparel.

Normally all volunteers must be over 18 with the exception of retail volunteers who must be 14 years or over.

Online giving websites are an extremely effective way to easily boost your fundraising total. They work by allowing sponsors to log on to a fundraiser's unique page and sponsor them using a credit or debit card. The money from online fundraising pages (e.g. Just Giving / Virgin Money Giving) gets automatically sent through to CHSW and added to your total, so no need for paper forms!

The purchaser's name and full address. If you buy tickets for someone else (over 18 years old), you can add their details during the process. It's useful to add a daytime phone number and email address too, as we try to contact winners by telephone first, followed by email.

Once you've signed up, you'll be sent a confirmation email.  Following your registration, you'll receive your welcome pack by email with the links and information you need about the event.

In the coming weeks, we'll post your memory pack which will also contain your walker number and everything else you'll need for the evening (except your T-shirt which you'll collect on the night).

You can choose to leave us a collection or a specific object for us to sell and use the proceeds to support our work.

Long-term donations enable us to plan for the future and ensure money is available where it is needed most. Regular gifts mean a consistent, predictable income so we can plan and budget better, making us more efficient. It’s also more cost effective. More of your money goes to our work as they generate less administration and carry cheaper bank charges.

There are benefits for you too. A regular gift is a hassle-free way to donate, while knowing that you are supporting our work.  To set up your direct debit payment go to the Donate page here, follow the instructions on the form, when you select regular donation the form will expand to provide the direct debit instructions to your bank.

As all teenagers wish to be independent, the hospice also holds teenage focused weekends, giving them the opportunity to come and stay without their families.

Three different weekends are arranged each year, plus one sensory teenage week. The weekends are often themed to suit varied interests including pamper days, cars and games.

It gives the teenagers the chance to socialise with others and time to talk about their experiences.

If appropriate, talk to your supervisor, manager or HR team to suggest that they set one up. It’s simple to get it in place. Or please get in touch with your local corporate fundraiser. We are happy to speak to them to suggest that they introduce one.

Canonteign Falls is a tough abseil and you will need to be fit and reasonably confident on your feet to be able to get to the top of the abseil and climb over the fence at the top. If you have any doubt in your ability to take part in the abseil please discuss this with your event organisers.

Being able to walk quickly up a flight of stairs, jump a foot off the ground and climb over obstacles such as fences unaided, would be a good example of mobility needed. If you are in any doubt about your fitness / mobility to participate in abseil event you have chosen, please consult the abseil organisers first and then your doctor if needed.

Participants who register are not obliged to raise sponsorship, however this will not qualify you to receive one of our Rainbow Run medals. Alternatively, you can make a donation of the suggested sponsorship of £20 if you would like your medal to be sent through. Please make your donation via our online donation page marking it as your Rainbow Run donation.

Have a look at our training page for advice and information on getting ready for the Ride for Precious Lives. By training hard you will be sure you’re ready for the challenge ahead!

Unfortunately, we're unable to transfer your place and registration fees are non-refundable.

If you're unable to attend due to extenuating circumstances, please contact Little Harbour on 01726 871 800, and upon the discretion of the fundraising manager, a refund will be made minus the deduction of a £5 admin fee.

Please see our full terms and conditions regarding date or venue changes made by CHSW due to circumstances outside of our control.

Following users is a great way to discover new content, and be part of the most recent conversations happening in your network.  Following other users keeps you up-to-date with the latest news that's relevant to you. After you choose to follow someone, his or her activity will show up in your My Disqus tab and Dashboard activity stream (use the “Context” button to get the full conversation).

If you cannot raise the money in time, we will ask you to make up the costs yourself in order to take part in the event. If this is not possible, we will offer you the opportunity to join another challenge in the future, giving you longer to keep fundraising. If you do have to cancel from the event, we will refund your sponsorship to your donors directly, if requested by them.

Please note that cancellation charges do apply if cancelling within eight weeks of departure date, (although travel insurance may cover cancellation costs, depending on the circumstance).

Absolutely!  Please email Hollie and we can send these out to you. Just let us know how many you require.

If you pay a lower rate (10 per cent or 20 per cent), Children's Hospice South West can still claim back 25p for each £1 you donate, provided you pay enough tax to cover the claim in the tax year you make the gift(s).

You can decide to compete your hike anywhere! You can complete it around your own home or whilst out on your daily exercise or a devised special route.

You will not jump in unsafe weather conditions.  However, you can never rely on the weather forecast entirely so please call the airfield on 01404 890 222 after 4.00pm on the day before your skydive, and a member of the Skydive Buzz team will advise you.  Please remember that your deposit is non-refundable so it’s important that you speak to a member of the team at the airfield to rebook your skydive if weather conditions don’t permit you to jump on your original date.

Collecting sponsorship from companies is a great way of increasing your sponsorship. Many companies offer a Matched Giving service where they match all the sponsorship raised by the staff.

Yes - we promote the events run by our preferred tour operators. Those tour operators will run several events a year, according to their own schedules. However, if you cannot make the dates they have on offer, we could look at an alternative tour operator for you so that you can still do your dream challenge - just get in touch with us and we will try our best to find a suitable event date for you.

All rooms are twin/triple share. If you would like to share a room with someone you know, you can enter their name on the registration form. If you don’t indicate your preferred buddy, we will allocate your room with another member of ‘Team Hike’. Women and men who are unknown to each other will not be placed in the same room.

Our hospice teams have engaging and challenging activities for corporate teams. If you're interested in volunteering in a group as part of your company's corporate social responsibility programme, please contact your local corporate fundraiser or complete our enquiry form.

No. You can choose to walk, jog or run! You can also choose whichever distance you decide is best for your family. Historically this event has been 2k.

There are no long term harmful effects from the foam either during or after the event. If you get some in your eyes, it may sting slightly, consider wearing sunglasses or goggles. The mixture that we use is drier than most foam; therefore you won’t be soaked and won’t be slipping around in the foam stations.

The dye in the foam gives vibrant colours however it is a food dye and is water soluble as well as environmentally friendly and completely safe.

The coloured powder paint is 100% safe and non- toxic. It is biodegradable and will not affect the environment. The paint should not cause harm to participants however we recommend that you don't enter if you have a respiratory, skin or medical condition that could be affected. If you're unsure, please consult your doctor before taking part.

No. Please contact us if your query concerns a guide dog.

Unfortunately it is inevitable that, with so many cyclists, some people will get injured in training for a race. What happens next depends on how you got your place and what race you are doing.

If you are using your 'own place' to run for CHSW (i.e. you obtained it directly from the organisers of that race) you simply need to let them know you can no longer take part. They will decide whether you can defer your place to the following year. We'd also appreciate it if you could let us know so we know how many runners to expect on the day.

If you have a guaranteed charity place, which you obtained by paying a registration fee with CHSW, then you must let us know as soon as possible if you are unable to take part in your event. We cannot automatically defer your place to next year's event, and all registration fees are non-refundable.

A computerised randomly selected weekly draw takes place every Friday. Should the Friday fall on a bank holiday, the draw will be run  the day before or the next working day.

Eden Project

Dogs are allowed into the Eden Project but are not permitted to take part in the event and will need to remain with family or friends who are spectating during the race. They cannot come into the event village which is situated inside of The Gallery.

Not at all, you can walk or run the 5K route as it is not about speed but more about having as much fun as possible! The race is not timed, so the more competitive Rainbow Runners amongst you should self-time for anyone desiring a personal best.

Take part in our in person event at RAF St Mawgan, Cornwall on Saturday 15 June 2024.We have limited numbers at each event so register early to be covered in paint at one of the 7 paint stations along the 5k route.

Rainbow Run is a fundraising event for Children's Hospice South West and your registration fee helps cover the cost of the event. We are therefore asking all participants to pledge to raise a suggested £25 which would fund vital care at our hospices. Visit the fundraising tab for colourful ideas to raise as much as possible and set up a Just Giving Page. Alternatively, you can donate via our online donation page in lieu of Rainbow Run sponsorship.

As your sponsorship is paying towards the charity-funded skydive, you will need to be transparent with your donors. We are unable to claim Gift Aid on the first £400 raised towards your skydive. Therefore, to make things simple we advise the following:

• When setting up your online fundraising page please do not allow Gift Aid to be claimed

• Do not allow donors on your sponsorship form to tick the Gift Aid box

• Add this clear statement to your online giving page and sponsorship form: £200 of the sponsorship raised will be funding the Skydive and the remaining sponsorship will support care at Children’s Hospice South West.

You can make a regular gift or one-off gift to us online.  Any donations you make through our website are safe and secure. We will not sell or share your data with any other organisations for fundraising or marketing purposes unless they’re working on behalf of CHSW. Thank you for your support.

Or you can send a cheque payable to ‘Children's Hospice South West’ to:

Children's Hospice South West, Little Bridge House, Redlands Road, Fremington, Barnstaple, Devon, EX31 2PZ.

Explain to potential supporters that you are taking part in a challenge (similar to a marathon or any other sponsored event) and that it will require dedication, commitment and training to raise money and to complete the trip.  The more you talk about the charity, the more they will realise how important your hard work is. You could always choose to pay towards the costs of the event yourself, so you can reassure your sponsors that 100% of their donation will benefit Children’s Hospice South West.

Of course! Please call your local hospice and your local area fundraiser will support you.

Moonlight Memory Walk is open to anyone over the age of 12 years old. Event participants aged 12 to 17 years must be accompanied by a participating adult.

This will depend on the role you are taking on, but most volunteers will be asked for at least two reliable references. For certain roles that involve working on our hospice sites you will need a DBS check (formerly CRB), which we will organise for you.
