A home from home

We offer friendship, support, practical help and the chance to relax in the beautiful surroundings of North Devon, North Somerset and mid-Cornwall to families with children who have life-limiting conditions.

We encourage a family atmosphere to all those who wish to get involved in everyday life at the hospice.

The family accommodation has a sitting room, dining room and kitchen for families if they prefer to cater for themselves, rather than joining us in the main part of the house.

Most people think of a children's hospice as a very sad place but it's nothing like that... it as an amazing place, there were amazing facilities, the children were all happy. You wouldn't have realised that it was a hospice, it was more like a mix between a hotel, but a very special hotel, and a family home.

Family accommodation

There are very pleasant and spacious rooms for parents and siblings, either in shared family rooms, or with separate bedrooms for the brothers and sisters. The family rooms all have televisions and radios, telephones, armchairs, tea and coffee making facilities and en suite bathrooms. Within the family accommodation there is a separate kitchen so that families can prepare their own snacks and meals if they prefer.

Children’s bedrooms

Each child is given their own bedroom, with a ‘window seat’ style bed so a parent or sibling can stay in the room with the child if they wish. The bedrooms are all individually decorated in a bright, colourful style and all open out onto large gardens. Each child’s room has a television, DVD player, wash basin, intercom and call system, and plenty of space to store clothes, familiar toys and other possessions brought from home.

Family bedrooms

Additionally, there are spacious rooms for parents and these have communicating doors for brothers and sisters if they wish to stay together. We also have accommodation with two parents rooms and four twin rooms. The parents rooms all have televisions, telephones, armchairs, tea and coffee making facilities and en-suite bathroom facilities.
