Clevedon man starts New Year by walking 13 miles every day for children’s hospice

Martin Syrett hopes to raise £1,000 for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) by walking from his home in Clevedon to Bristol – a total of more than 400 miles (643km) over the course of his 31-day challenge.

Martin, aged 66, said he wanted to take on his walking challenge after hearing about the work the charity does at its Charlton Farm hospice near Wraxall, from his wife Anette who used to volunteer at the hospice.

Last Christmas, ‘treecyclers’ raised more than £5k to help provide vital care for local families. This year, the charity is collecting real trees in even more locations in return for a donation.

Bloor Homes' boost for Children’s Hospice South West

Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) has been boosted by a contribution from Bloor Homes.

The housebuilder’s Exeter region Managing Director Bradley Davison visited the charity’s Little Bridge House children’s hospice near Barnstaple to present the donation, along with chocolates and selection boxes for children staying at the hospice.

An illustration of Her Late Majesty the Queen buying a Hocking’s ice cream at Westward Ho! has raised an incredible £4,260 for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

North Devon artist and cartoonist Colin Petty said he was inspired to create his tribute entitled ‘One Last One’ after seeing an image of The Queen and Paddington Bear after her death in September.

Motorbiking Santas to hit the road for children’s hospice this December

Hundreds of motorbiking Santas will be jumping in the saddle all over the South West to raise festive cheer in support of Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) this December.

The annual Santas on a Bike ride-outs to CHSW’s children’s hospices in Bristol and St Austell are taking place on December 3, while the ride to the charity’s Devon hospice takes place on December 10.

Tawstock concert has all the ingredients for a very merry Christmas

A winter-warming Christmas concert is being held at Tawstock Court near Barnstaple in aid of Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

The Very Merry Tawstock Christmas concert is taking place on Friday, December 9 and will feature performances by Chivenor Military Ladies Choir, West Buckland Prep School Choir, Barnstaple Music Comedy and Dramatic Society (BMCDS) Voices, The Voice Community Choir and The Jurassix Shanty Singers. 

Hundreds enjoy emotional moonlight charity walk at the Lost Gardens of Heligan

More than 300 people took part in an emotional night-time charity walk at The Lost Gardens of Heligan on Saturday night.

Children’s Hospice South West’s (CHSW) Moonlight Memory Walk took place under clear skies at the gardens in Pentewan near St Austell, a new location for the event, which has been held in Falmouth since 2009.

It is expected to raise £25,000 for the charity, which runs the Little Harbour children’s hospice in nearby Porthpean.
