Kevin’s Chitty Chitty Bang Bang replica raises smiles at children’s hospice

A dedicated super fan of the 1968 classic film Chitty Chitty Bang Bang embarked on a lockdown project to create a replica of the flying car featured in the film.

Kevin Edge, a retired kitchen fitter from Lympstone, made the magical car in his workshop, using various materials, including household objects such as a toilet brush holder and a thermal flask. 

Newquay Cubs Cream Tea raises £200

The 5th Newquay Cub Scouts have plated up a £200 donation for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) following their Jubilee Cream Tea event.

The group held their cream tea fundraiser over the Jubilee weekend at Pine Lodge Hotel in Newquay. Refreshments were donated by Paulines Café and cream teas were served to friends and family all in support of CHSW and its local children’s hospice in St Austell; Little Harbour.

Teeing off teams raise £20,000 for CHSW

A charity golf day recently held at Carlyon Bay Golf Club celebrated its biggest year yet by raising over £20,000 for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

The return of the charity golf day after its two year hiatus due to the pandemic was clearly a welcome date in the diary for players, with a record 48 teams entering this year.

Weir Quay crew win trophy at Eddystone Pursuit

A team from Weir Quay boatyard were successful in winning the Smeaton trophy at this year's Eddystone Charity Sailing Pursuit leading to over £1500 donated to Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

The event took place on Saturday 18 June and saw 70 yachts battle it out for prize money for their chosen charities. Boats tackled the 26 mile off shore course from Plymouth Sound and back again and £110,000 was raised for over 30 different charities.
