Volunteers needed for new Sidmouth charity shop

Sidmouth’s new Children’s Hospice South West charity shop is looking for volunteers to help following a successful opening earlier this month.

The shop in Fore Street opened its doors for the first time on August 12 and is appealing for help from the local community following a busy first few weeks.

Manager Emma-Louise Lee said she was delighted that people in Sidmouth were supporting the new shop, which has opened in the former New Look shop.

“Trade has been building gradually and we have had some fantastic donations, but if anyone is able to spare a few hours a week, short-term or long term, we’d be hugely grateful,” she said.

Volunteering in our charity shops is one of the most popular ways to support the charity and there’s a role to suit everyone, from creating shop displays and sorting stock, to serving and chatting to customers.

You can choose your own hours, gain skills to use for the future and meet like-minded people. You’ll be part of a happy, friendly team and know that you’re making a difference.

The boutique-style shop offers a range of women’s, men’s and children’s clothing and accessories. It is open Tuesday to Saturday, from 9am to 5pm, and on Sundays from 10am to 4pm.

"We’re delighted to have been able to open our Sidmouth shop and offer some fantastic pre-loved items and give them the chance to be loved again, all while raising money to help local families who use our three children’s hospices in Devon, Cornwall and Somerset,” added Emma-Louise.

If you’d like to help in the Sidmouth shop, or would like to find out more, call the shop on 01395 514155 email sidmouth.shop@chsw.org.uk or pop in for a chat with Emma-Louise.
