Manager Wendy Roberts said the improved layout would offer customers an enhanced shopping experience, as well as a better working environment for staff and volunteers.

“We’re delighted to have been able to give such a special shop a facelift and are excited to be able to reopen the doors this week,” said Wendy.

“As well as being more energy efficient, the new-look shop features an open plan sorting area, which will provide a lovely place to work for our staff and volunteers, and also give people more of an insight into how their donations will make a difference to the charity.”

The shop, which opened almost eight years to the day in February 2015, has raised hundreds of thousands of pounds to support local children with life-limiting conditions and their families. Every item donated and sold helps support the charity’s three children’s hospices – Little Bridge House in North Devon, Charlton Farm near Bristol, and Little Harbour in St Austell.

Nearly 32,000 bags of donated goods have been sorted at the shop, with around 330,000 pre-loved items of women’s, men’s and children’s clothing, as well as books, toys and bric-a-brac sold and given a new lease of life. Volunteers have donated nearly 35,000 hours to support the shop, which also has its own vintage and retro area downstairs.

“The shop has enjoyed some super support from people in Brixham over the last eight years and the new look reflects our broadening customer base and the way people’s shopping habits have shifted more towards sustainable high-quality fashion that’s good value for money,” added Wendy.

We hope people like it and continue to support us in whatever way they can, whether it’s to shop, make a donation, volunteer or simply to pop in and say ‘hello’ and learn a bit more about the charity.

The shop is open Monday to Saturday, 9am-5pm, and Sunday, 10am-4pm. Stock donations can also be dropped off during this time, and anyone with large quantities of donations is asked to phone ahead to let shop staff know they are coming. Call 01803 852507 or email brixham.shop@chsw.org.uk
