Damian is a senior lecturer at the University of the West of England where he manages Business Management with Economics (undergraduate) and Economics for Professionals (postgraduate). He is also a director of an economics consultancy (Opiniari Limited) which delivers specialist services to public sector clients.
Prior to working in academia, Damian spent much of his career working in a policy environment. Damian worked for the Office for National Statistics (ONS) and the South West Regional Development Agency (SWRDA). Since joining UWE, he has maintained his links with government and is currently an academic assessor for the Government Economic Service.
Damian’s roles at ONS have included Head of National Accounts Extension Project, Head of Balance of Payments, and Economic Advisor. During this time he has been a member of a number of national and international boards and committees, and was responsible for managing the UK’s input into drafting the new EU statistical regulations and overseeing its subsequent implementation.
While working at SWRDA, Damian was a member of the South West Regional Observatory Board and editor of the South West Regional Economic Profile.
