Fundraising partnership with Curo raises over £10k

Curo Group with Kate Fisher

Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) has enjoyed a year-long partnership with Bath-based housing association Curo.

Curo staff chose CHSW as their charity of the year for 2017 and have taken part in numerous events, contributing to the fundraising total of more than £10,000. Individuals from Curo have hauled themselves through the mud - Rood Rampage and the winter Monster Race – in the name of charity, as well as entering the iconic Bath Half Marathon. Others have taken part in CHSW’s own events such as the Bubble Rush 5k and its much-loved Santas on the Run in Bristol. Teams have also organised cake sales in the office, a static bike challenge and embraced Festive Fashion Friday, as well as donating good quality items to the local CHSW shop at Oldfield Park in Bath.

Curo’s CEO, Victor da Cunha visited the CHSW’s Charlton Farm hospice in North Somerset in February last year to see for himself how the charity helps local families whose children have been diagnosed with a life-threatening or life-limiting condition.

Victor da Cunha said, ‘We’ve been impressed with the passion and dedication of CHSW all the way through the partnership. I personally had the opportunity to see the work they do at our local hospice and we’ve worked together on lots of fundraising initiatives to get our colleagues involved throughout the year. We’re delighted that we were able to raise so muc money to support a great local cause, close to a lot of our colleagues’ hearts. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend supporting the great work CHSW do.’Curo's CEO with Kate Fisher

Charlton Farm currently supports over 200 families from Bath, West Wiltshire, Somerset, South Gloucestershire and Bristol. These families have short breaks at the hospice, which allow them to make some special memories whilst receiving the very best in care and support during a difficult time in their lives.

Kate Fisher, Corporate Partnerships Fundraiser at CHSW said, ‘We have thoroughly enjoyed working with the team at Curo, who have shown such enthusiasm and who’ve fully embraced our cause. During the partnership we were also honoured to be chosen as the beneficiary Charity of Bath Chronicle’s Heart of Bath Awards, which was sponsored by Curo. We’d like to extend a very warm ‘thank you’ to everyone who made this partnership such a success.’
