Leaving a gift in your Will

We really do rely on the dedicated support of our community and remembering Children's Hospice South West in their Will is one way in which people across the South West, and beyond, continue to show their support. Since Little Bridge House first opened its doors in 1995, we have been overwhelmed by legacy gifts exceeding £17 million.

How to leave a gift in your Will

At Children's Hospice South West (CHSW) we are absolutely committed to making the most of short and precious lives.  The care offered at each of our hospices is not simply about medical and nursing care for sick children, but about enriching the lives of children and their families.  Families talk about the 'treasure chest' of precious memories they build to carry into the future ... a future which will, sadly, be without their much loved child or children.

There are a few ways you can leave money to Children’s Hospice South West in your Will. If you have yet to make a Will then it can easily be included. If you already have a Will, you can amend it with a Codicil. Your solicitor will let you know about the options available to you.

Your gift really does make a difference

Precious time as a family ...

Precious time as a familyAt our three children’s hospices we look after the whole family, not just the poorly child. Your support means those little things we do for the family make a big difference.

Becki comes to us for planned short breaks with her twins Sophia and Laila and their sister Olivia.

"When we are staying here, Sophia is supported by the Care Team and both Laila and Olivia are looked after by the Sibling Team. Olivia in particular absolutely loves it and the whole Sibling Team is fantastic.

When we’re at home, if I take Olivia out for the day, Sophia of course has to come too and my focus still has to be on her. A family outing has to be put on pause because I’ll have to stop to give her meds or stop for milk, but when Olivia goes out with the siblings, she can just be a child again. They offer a sense of normality that other people take for granted.

“I come for a rest and a break, but at the same time, Sophia isn’t whisked away by the care team - she’s a part of everything we do. I enjoy activities that most people get to do every day with their children, but I just can’t because I need to look after Sophia. At the hospice I can play, have fun and focus on Olivia and Laila, knowing a nurse is concentrating on Sophia".

Our hospice open days

CHSW open daysEach month we open our doors to give our supporters an insight into children’s hospice life and thank our donors and volunteers for all their ongoing support.

We do not have any planned family stays at during these days and so you won’t hear the usual noise and laughter that bounces off the walls of the house but you will leave with a huge sense of enthusiasm for your local charity and a proud smile on your face.

"To be honest I really didn't know what to expect, but today has inspired me to do so much and not take my life for granted."
