Yes, but only if you submit your request at least two weeks prior to the event.

If you choose to increase your distance you will have to pay the difference in entry fee. If you drop down in distance you will only receive a refund of the difference if you submit your request at least one month in advance.

No, all participants in these two distances must wear a wetsuit.

You will receive a print out of results as you finish the race. Otherwise they will be available on line after race day.

Yes. All day parking is available for competitors and spectators near the Activity Centre. It is £2 if purchased in advance or £4 on the day.

  • 500m - £15 (plus £25 minimum sponsorship)
  • 1000m - £20 (plus £40 minimum sponsorship)

Registration is from 9.30am - 10.30am.  Please allow yourself plenty of time to park, walk down to the event village and sing-in at the registration tent.

The course is one lap and marked out by large bouys.

There will be a safety briefing at 10.45am which all swimmers MUST attend.  Please be ready with your wetsuit on!

There are people out on the water in kayaks, providing safety support.

No, adults can only do the 500m swim if they are accompanying a child as part of the family swim.

  • For the 500m you will need to be aged between 12 – 16
  • For the 1000m you will need to be a minimum age of 14

Approximately two weeks before the event.

There will be separate medals for 1st, 2nd and 3rd for males and females for each distance and age group, with prizes for the overall winners at each distance.

There will be a perpetual trophy awarded to the school or swimming club for both the 500m & 1km swim. This will be awarded to the team that has the fastest three members cross the finish line. These teams can be mixed and aged up to 16 years.

Each swimmer will also receive a congratulations certificate at the finish line.

500m

This is an inclusive event aimed at giving all people the opportunity to swim outdoors in the stunning location of Roadford Lake. To take part in the 500m you must be a competent swimmer and be able to swim 500m in a swimming pool in under 15 minutes.

1000m

This is an inclusive event aimed at giving all people the opportunity to swim outdoors in the stunning location of Roadford Lake. To take part in the 1000m you must be a competent swimmer and be able to swim 1000m in a swimming pool in under 30 minutes.
