FAQ's
1) How do I refer a child to Children's Hospice South West?
Referrals are accepted from any source, provided that they are made with the knowledge and agreement of the family. Medical confirmation of the child's condition and prognosis will be sought. Referrals need to be made to the Head of Care at Little Bridge House or Charlton Farm.2) Does the Children's Hospice South West help children suffering from cancer?
A small number of children that use our services are suffering from cancer. This is largely due to the treatment success rates of young cancer patients. We do work very closely with CLIC Sargeant to ensure that the children that we have that suffer from cancer have the best specialist care available. Other medical conditions that our children suffer from range from heart disease, organ failure, Duchenne muscular dystrophy to lesser known conditions such as Batten's diseases and to disabilities so profound that a child's hold on life is very fragile.3) How is Children's Hospice South West funded?
None of the families who use either of the South West Children's Hospices has to pay. It is almost entirely funded by voluntary contributions from the public through fundraising, donations, trusts, and, increasingly money left to the charity in wills. We also have a network of friend's groups across the South West, acting as a focus for fundraising activities, co-ordinated from regional offices. We rely on the generosity of the people of the South West to raise the necessary running costs which by 2008 will be in the region of £6 million.4) How can I get involved and help raise money for CHSW?
